9 software adoption questions to think about
Even the most sophisticated software system will fail if users don’t adopt the tools, and buy into the new process. However, the technical development, integration, and eventual rollout of a new software system typically get’s all the attention at the expense of an end-user adoption plan.
In order to ensure adoption a new system, here are 9 questions to think about before you introduce the software to end-users:
What’s the catalyst for making the move to the new system? To what extent is the business rationale known and understood?
How will you measure the success of this migration? How will business units measure success?
To what extent have you/your organization examined the likely impact of this migration on end-users?
What are your greatest fears associated with the rollout? How will you mitigate these risks?
Thinking about a recent IT roll-out that affected a large group of end-users. What were the critical success factors that led to adoption? Are these likely to be the same factors?
Who are the key influencers of adoption at your organization?
What types of resistance, if any, would you expect for this migration, and from whom?
What do you see as the most critical elements of your communications/training plan for end-users? Ideal timing?
What resources, if any, do you have within your organization or group to help create and deliver needed communications, training, support, etc.?
