The job hunting process can be daunting and nerve-racking. Being an HR professional for over 4 years, I often find that candidates don’t realize that we are on your side. We want you to win and for you to be able to put your best foot forward. Part of my job is to help candidates prepare and ace interviews while also making sure they walk away with a better understanding of the role and the organization. Below are some of my tips on how you can interview successfully with Architech.

Be a Conversationalist

We completely understand the nervousness that is associated with interviews. However, I am here to put you at ease. Architech interviews are mainly conversational and we want to get to know you a bit better, know more about your background and experience, and to tell you more about what we do. Having said that, please try to highlight your skills, discuss your experience in more detail, and take it as an opportunity to ask more questions about our organization.

Highlight your skills and experience

If you have wide range of job-related experience, it can be difficult to talk about everything you’ve done. It’s very helpful to provide specific examples of projects you’ve worked on, speak about some of the challenges that you’ve experienced and how you overcame them, and if you’re in a technical role highlight the technical stack that you’ve utilized throughout your career. It's also useful to showcase your knowledge by discussing how you would solve problems in different ways and how you would prepare for any risk.

It can be beneficial to review the job description and study or look up the tools and skills necessary for the role. Also, it is ok to ask clarifying questions if you do not understand the exercise or the interview questions, that’s what we are here for.

What we look for

Finding a culture fit is very important for us. We take a lot of pride in our collaborative and growth focused culture and are always looking for people who are passionate about learning and growing their skill set. We want you to grow your career with us, wherever you are on your current career path. You may not have the exact level of experience or skill set we are looking for, but we highly encourage you to apply and get in touch with our Talent and Culture team on LinkedIn to go over any questions you may have or to go over any reservations you may have about your application.

Architech is also highly committed to our Diversity and Inclusion program and we want to actively remove some of the barriers that people from certain communities and groups may face. We have an open-door policy and a flat team structure with no sense of hierarchy which allows us to work in project teams and everyone's ideas and contributions are equally recognized and valued. We believe that self-organizing teams do not need hierarchy and our teams thrive on that model as they deliver complex technical solution while acting as strategic technical partners to our clients. So, if you are team player who can continue to facilitate openness and bring forward a strategic and learning mindset to the team, then you can succeed at Architech!

How to stand out

You must be wondering how you can make a mark during the interview and manage to stand out amongst a sea of applicants. It’s important to know that if you are selected for an interview then you’re already one of our top picks and you can show up the interview knowing that all you need to do is highlight your experience, skills, and authentic self. If there is something you do not know or are not sure of then you can be honest and let the interviewer know that you will investigate it and get back to them. We understand that there is no way you will know everything, but it’s about how to handle the question and how you follow up on it.

It is also very helpful if you can do some research into what we do to be prepared and help facilitate the conversation about Architech. Just let your confidence shine and help us understand what you can bring to the team. Also, do not get discouraged even if you think that the role you are interviewing for is not a good fit. We are always open to keeping in touch for future opportunities that better match your skill set.

You are also an interviewer - take the time you need

While we are interviewing you as a candidate, you should also be interviewing us! Don’t be afraid to ask questions to make sure Architech is a good fit for your career. Are we the right sized company for what you’re looking for? How will this role challenge you? What are potential areas for growth for you in this role? Ask about our culture and see if it aligns with your working style. We don’t want you to just join and work with us, we want you to thrive and be the best you can professionally be. Ask all the questions you need to, it's just as important for us to ensure that you walk away with better understanding of how you can contribute to the success of the organization and that you have an accurate understanding of what we do. To summarize, remember to make it conversational to effectively highlight your experience and stand out in the interview by taking the time ask questions about the role and about Architech. Most importantly, bring your authentic self to the interview and everything else will take care of itself. See you at the interview!
